On 20 August 2026, PMA Music Foundation joined hands with MTR Corporation and Chan Tak Sang Memorial Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to present Sing, Clap & Ride: A Musical Journey at MTR Tuen Mun Depot. A total of 45 participants, including MTR volunteers, professional music facilitators, and the elderly, enjoyed a memorable day of music, railway exploration and community connection.

Going beyond a typical Light Rail visit, the program brought vocal percussion and a cappella music onto the train. Participants clapped along, explored rhythms and created music with their voices while traveling on the Light Rail, transforming an everyday railway journey into a lively and interactive musical experience.

Throughout the day, MTR volunteers took on the role of MTR Ambassadors, introducing participants to the history, development and community role of the Light Rail. The group also visited the exhibition hall and experienced the driving simulator, offering many participants (particularly those who do not often travel by Light Rail) an opportunity to learn more about this important part of Hong Kong’s railway network and the stories of the Tuen Mun community.

One of the day’s highlights was a performance by MTR’s newly established a cappella volunteer team “MetroTones”. Through the warmth and creativity of unaccompanied voices, the volunteers shared familiar melodies and invited participants to join in through clapping and rhythmic interaction. Together, the volunteers and elderly participants created a unique musical soundscape during the journey, demonstrating how music can bridge generations and bring people closer together.

At PMA Music Foundation, we believe music does not only belong on a stage. It can happen on a train, in a neighbourhood and in every shared moment along the way. By creating accessible and participatory music experiences rooted in everyday life, we hope to bring people of different ages and backgrounds together through rhythm, song and meaningful interaction.

Our heartfelt thanks go to MTR, the MTR volunteers and a cappella volunteer team, and Chan Tak Sang Memorial Neighborhood Elderly Centre for making this joyful musical journey possible. We are grateful to everyone who helped fill the day with laughter, music and wonderful memories.

PMA Music Foundation will continue to use music as a bridge to connect communities and create more inclusive, engaging and meaningful arts experiences for all.
